What does SCURO even mean?

SCURO means "dark" in Italian. It's a strange name for the most colourful room you'll ever walk into… until someone turns off the lights and the whole place starts to glow!

Merida Lim founded SCURO at 19. Her highest qualification is a PSLE certificate.

She left River Valley High School at 16, four years into a six-year Integrated Programme, then left a graphic communications diploma at NAFA in her second year. School was never the right fit.

Art had been her safe space through some difficult years, and she wanted to build a room where other people could find the same thing.

In 2024 she put her life savings into an art studio that nearly closed down.

The first version of SCURO was horror-themed. It found an audience, but a small one.

So, SCURO pivoted into immersive neon experiences, and the rest is history!

Anyone can install a blacklight. The harder part is running a room so that everyone in it has fun!

So we built around three things:

Nobody gets left out. Our tracing method means you don't need to be able to draw to leave with something amazing!

You leave with something in your hands. A painting, a slime, a squishy, something to remember your memories at SCURO.

We handle everything. You came to enjoy, not to run the show. Our engaging and responsible team handle the event from start to finish!

Since then, we’ve opened two studios — Outram Park, and Serangoon Road, which opened at the end of 2025.

4.9 stars on Google, thousands of parties, team bondings and workshops hosted. Teams from Marina Bay Sands, NTUC and A*STAR have painted here.
